RANDY COLE

Randy Cole, 54, is a staff Pastor at Capital Christian Center, and has been married to Joanne for 30 years, has four adult children between the ages of 22 and 29.  At the age of 50, when Randy became an “empty nester,” he discovered a new interest in adventure activities.  It all started with a little hike to the top of Mt Diablo, a 3,500 ft. elevation, and quickly escalated to other peaks including Pyramid Peak, Mt.Tallac, Mt. Whitney (the highest summit in the lower 48 states), Mt. Shasta, and Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa, 19,340 ft.

In the summer of 2008, Randy discovered a new activity when friends encouraged him to try road cycling.  In 2009, Randy logged 80 rides for a total of 2,700 miles, and in 2010 he is on pace to exceed 3,500 miles. One of his favorite rides is the annual Tour de Tahoe, a 72 mile loop around Lake Tahoe also know as “The Most Beautiful Ride in the World,” which he has completed three times.

Randy says, “Participating in the RAAM 2011 event seems like the perfect progression in pushing me to the next level of endurance and adventure activities. Riding it with R4M makes it that much more appealing to me. I am looking forward to the whole process of training and preparation for this very difficult challenge as well as impacting lives along the way.”
